Recap FuzzCon Europe 2019
The European Conference About Fuzzing
That was FuzzCon Europe 2019 - the first conference on the latest research results and developments in fuzzing and application security.
The motto of last year's annual conference was 'What's all the Fuzz about?!'. Exciting speakers such as Marc Wallert, Prof. Dr. Thorsten Holz, Prof. Dr. Matthew Smith and Sebastian Poeplau contributed to the success of the event. In the video you will find impressions of FuzzCon Europe 2019.
The first big event on fuzzing organized by Code Intelligence in Bonn on June 27 was a success. We are extremely happy about all the positive feedback provided by our guests and participants. The event presented current projects and the latest developments in application security with a focus on fuzzing. There was also plenty of room for networking and one-on-one discussions. The event took place in the Digital Hub co-working area and in company rooms of Code Intelligence located in the beautiful area of Bonner Bogen close to the Rhine river.
The event combined four presentations and three breakout sessions. It started off with a presentation by Marc Wallert about overcoming crises in a digital environment. It was followed by the presentation on fuzzing research in the academic world by Prof. Thorsten Holz. In the afternoon, the event continued with some insights into human-centric software design by Prof. Matthew Smith, Sebastian Pöplau finished the event with a talk on symbolic execution and how it can be combined with fuzzing to improve software security testing.
Three breakout sessions taking place before and after lunch covered a range of topics on fuzzing - from explaining fuzzing technology with examples (Dr. Khaled Yakdan) to applying fuzzing to embedded devices (Sirko Höer) and easy integration of fuzzing into the software development process (Sergei Dechand).

Here you can find the complete keynote 'Stark durch Krisen im digitalen Zeitalter' by Mark Wallert. Please note that the keynote was held in German.
We invited leading researchers and experts from the field of IT security to present the latest and most promising innovations and developments.
Thorsten Holz is a professor at the Ruhr Universität Bochum. His research interests are in the field of applied aspects of secure IT systems and automatically detected software vulnerabilities. Furthermore, he is a speaker of the Cluster of Excellence "CASA - Cyber Security in the Age of Large-Scale Attackers".
Matthew Smith is an internationally known expert for usable security and privacy. He is a professor at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn and a member of the Fraunhofer FKIE in Bonn. Recently he has also become a member of the "Wise Council of Cybersecurity".
Sebastian Pöplau is currently a PhD student in the Software and Systems Security group of Eurecom (France), under the supervision of Aurélien Francillon. In his PhD he focuses on the security of embedded devices, moving from low-level software to hardware aspects.
